Larks Meadow Farm was established in 2009 as a small holding which has grown over time to a farm of 300 acres of permanent grass land.
Primarily run between 1st and 5th generation farmers with lots of knowledge and enthusiasm to keep pushing the farm in the right direction, the farm is completely free range and has a broad mix of lamb, beef, pork and eggs from our own animals.
We currently have a flock of 340 British breed ewes, a rolling stock of Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, 700 hens and our small herd of 25 pedigree Herefords and Hereford x suckler cows under the careful care of our Pedigree Hereford bull Norman. It is our aim to reduce our cereal feed content down to zero with the transition to a fully native breed herd.
Native breeds are brilliant at grazing our grasses allowing for a 100% grass-fed animal, after all they are designed to thrive on these lands. In 2021 we purchase an additional bull, this time a Pedigree Aberdeen Angus called Toby Jack. The aim being to improve ease of calving in our first calving heifers
Our aim is to be a completely grass-fed native breed farm in the next few years with help of regenerative farming techniques. We mention the next few years a lot here at Larks Meadow Farm but that is because we are having a massive push at becoming a reliable, green and caring local farm that can supply brilliant meats that have come from somewhere you know, from animals that have had a nice care free life.
Being Free Range throughout our whole farm structure is our main game, but we are quietly on the side working on helping the environment by going Green. Its a tough old ask in the food industry to provide high quality products that meet food and hygiene standards, couple that with trying to be environmentally friendly and it can seem an uphill task.
Here at Larks Meadow farm we are investigating biodegradable and card products that can protect and package our products whilst keeping those high hygiene standards. Over the next year we aim to be plastic free with our packaging and at the very least we aim to have a 100% recyclable packaging lineup.
